Balium Blur — Structured Distortion and Deliberate Overbleed
Balium Blur is a contemporary sans-serif type system born from the deliberate reinterpretation of printing errors and the traditional techniques once used to conceal them. It treats error as an intentional latent flaw: areas that would conventionally require stroke thinning are instead saturated with dense black, exaggerated blur, and deliberate overbleeding.
This approach creates a recurring, irregular visual language that oscillates between solid precision and fluid distortion, introducing expressive noise into a visual culture increasingly shaped by digital perfection.
The 50 Experimental Ligatures:
A standout feature of Balium Blur is its dedicated suite of 50 discretionary ligatures, developed from the most common two-letter bigrams found in written language. These ligatures intentionally overbleed letter junctions into each other, creating an “inception” effect within the typographic system where adjacent glyphs dissolve and merge into singular sculptural entities.
